Richard Frank - Managing Director

I was born in 1957, educated at Wold Newton Primary School, Pocklington Public School and Leeds Polytechnic.

My career in the Hospitality industry began when I was 14; I began working for Jaconnellis ice cream parlour on Scarborough Front and in my parents Holiday Flats. Between the ages of 14 and 21 I held various positions in hotels, some schools and one hospital. At 22, I became a licensee and managed the Cask Inn until 35. I then bought the Ambassador Hotel, Scarborough and improved it from 2-star 40 en-suite rooms to 3-star, 59 en-suite rooms, leisure facilities and Event suite for 120. In 2000, our company bought the Crown Hotel, Scarborough with the aim of restoring it to it�s former glory.

Over the past seven years through the dedication and passion of my brother, David and the Crown Spa Hotel Team we have successfully achieved;

Won a national award for Excellence through People.
Won "Yorkshire Moors and Coast" Hotel of the year.
Created Scarborough�s most popular Health Club.
Created Scarborough�s best Spa therapy Suites
Produced Scarborough�s highest rated AA hotel.

I have two very dear children, Harriet 21 & Charlotte 23, who are also in the Scarborough Hospitality trade and music scene.

My interests are anything to do with the outdoors, nature and sport, eg windsurfing, walking, bird watching, cycling, squash, gardening and adventuring.

I enjoy making time for my animals; I have 8 hens, which all have names and produce various coloured eggs; 40 pond fish; 7 tropical fish and an affectionate tom cat, whose name is �Socks�.

I enjoy all types of music.

My biggest joy is waking up! And I hope you enjoy waking up in the Crown Spa Hotel, very soon.
