After hundreds of entries the North Yorkshire Moors Railway is pleased to announce the winner of the 40th Anniversary Logo Competition as James Bozeat, 13 years old from Scarborough and a member of the Railway’s Junior Volunteers Group.
Danielle Ramsey Marketing Manager explains, “The NYMR is delighted to announce James’s design as our official emblem for the 40th Anniversary in 2013. We were inundated with entries but eventually after much debate narrowed it down to 12 finalists with James coming out as the clear winner.”
All entries had to include a reference to either NYMR or North Yorkshire Moors Railway and the number 40 with entrants accepted from anyone under the age of 16. The chosen logo will feature on items ranging from retail products, in all marketing campaigns and on all 465, 000 NYMR 2013 timetables to mark this landmark year for the charity. All previous emblems have all been created by professionals, or taken on logos adapted from the previous Railway artwork when the line was connected to the main line.
James who came up to claim his prize on Saturday 8th December with his parents was over the moon with his logo being chosen and said “it has completely made my week, I love volunteering on the railway and to have my logo chosen and used throughout 2013 is the best Christmas present I could’ve wished for”.
The competition was judged by a panel including the Railway’s very own Artist in Residence Chris Ware and NYMR staff and Volunteers.
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is currently running Santa Specials 15, 16, 22 and 23 December and will be running trains daily from 27 December to the 6 January giving you the perfect chance to work off that Christmas stuffing.
