Swimming is ideal for arthritic people as it works the affected joints and keeps them mobile, which could help prevent any further deterioration, said Jane Griffin – an adviser to the Joint Ageing Information Service Panel.

Obesity has a greater impact on the blood pressure of teenage girls than on teenage boys, a US study has suggested. The study of 1,700 teenagers, presented to the American Physiological Society conference, found girls had three times the risk of higher blood pressure.

3. Calcium supplements: the benefits and the risks
The Telegraph

Are calcium supplements the best thing since sliced bread? That seems to be the message from research published last week. The study of more than 40,000 older women found calcium was the only supplement to reduce the risk of dying early. Multivitamins, iron, vitamin B6, folic acid, magnesium, copper and zinc all increased the risk.
